The company, which has till date sold 13.81 lakh units of the model in the country since its launch in March 2008, unveiled a sketch of the new Dzire.

Scheduled to launch in India on May 16, the third generation Dzire sedan now comes with more proportionate design and styling element which will make the sedan more desirable. With the introduction of new generation Dzire, Maruti Suzuki India definitely would be eyeing to increase the market share owned by the car in the sub-compact space which is about 50 percent. The company has already initiated the bookings for the car with token amount of INR 11,000. To be offered in 4 trim levels, the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire is based on 5th generation platform which also underpins Maruti Baleno premium hatchback.
The third generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017 now comes with stylish yet proportionate design which is accentuated by hexagonal front grille, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, all-new front bumper, fog lamp that gives the sedan with a premium look. The side profile too gets an appealing look as it sports body coloured ORVMs with integrated side indicators, body coloured door handles, and multi-spoke alloy wheels. The rear profile of the sedan gets Dzire badging at the right side, new boot design, and all-new LED tail lamps.
The new generation Dzire sub-compact sedan is based on the new Suzuki HEARTECT platform which also underpins the current generation Baleno. This new platform will form base for the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift 2017 which will be launched in India next year. The upcoming car will be lighter in weight thanks to its lightweight platform which will play an essential role in fuel efficiency.
In terms of dimensions, the car gets a length of 3995mm, height of 1,515mm and width of 1,735mm. It also gets a longer wheelbase which is 40mm wider that offers extra shoulder room at the front and rear by 20mm and 30mm respectively. Maruti Suzuki India also has ditched the Swift prefix from the nameplate in order to proffer the sedan with a distinctive uniqueness.
Feature-wise, the new Maruti Dzire sedan now gets a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android and Mirror-link compatibility, auto climatic control, flat bottomed wooden inserted multi-functional steering wheel, start/stop button and much more.
Coming to the safety aspect, the forthcoming all-new Dzire sedan will be seen with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts as standard across all the variants.
The new Dzire sedan will continue to source its power from the same set of engines as seen on the current generation wherein the petrol unit comes with a 1.2-litre K-series petrol unit while the diesel variant gets 1.3-litre DDiS unit. The petrol unit can easily produce 84bhp of max power and peak torque of 114 Nm while the diesel engine can effortlessly develop max power of 74 BHP and190 Nm of max torque. Both the engines will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox as standard and 5-speed AMT unit as optional.
The overall appeal of the car is enhanced by the exterior tone which includes 3 all-new exterior shades – Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red, Arctic White, Silky Silver and Magma Gray.
Once launched, the car will be continue to take on the rivals such as newly launched Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Aspire and others.
As the new Dzire will be more safety oriented, stylish and premium than the current model, we speculate that the prices of the sedan could see a bump which is likely to fall in the price bracket of INR 5.5 lakh – INR 9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
