Dated: 04/01/2018

The Secretary (E),
Railway Board,
New Delhi

Dear Sir,

Sub: Change of Uniform Code for the category of staff working as Trains Clerks in Railways: reg.

Pursuant to the decision on 7th CPC recommendations, instructions have been Railway issued by the Board vide letter No. PC-VIV/20l7/l/7/5/7 Dated 03/10/2017 (RBE No. l4l/2017) for payment of Dress Allowance to the categories of Railway staff who are supplied uniforms and are required to wear them regularly (this includes the category of Trains Clerk).

In this connection, Federation desires to bring to the notice of Railway Board that the staff working as Pointsman and the Trains clerk are supplied uniform which are of grey colour (shirt & Trouser). There is persistent demand from Trains clerk category for change of 'Grey' colour of the Uniform (Dress code). The Train clerks demand needs consideration for changing below:- Uniforms colour as
  • White Shirt and
  • Blue/Black Trouser
As the Railway Board has set up a Committee of EDs to consider changes various in Dress Code for categories of staff who are supplied Uniforms and are required to wear regularly while performing duties, NFIR suggests to consider change of Dress Code of "trains Clerk" category to white Shirt and Blue/Black Trouser" in order to differentiate them with other categories and to raise their satisfaction level.

NFIR, therefore, requests the Railway Board to consider the above proposal for change of Dress code of Trains clerk category accordingly. A copy of the instructions issued may be endorsed to the Federation.

Yours faithfully,
(Dr. M. Raghavaiah)
General Secretary
